Taming the Yeast Beast

YEAST OVERGROWTH

It’s the most underdiagnosed problem in the world, yet is at the root of most ailments.

Internal yeast, or Candida Albicans, is part of our body’s’ ‘zoo’. We need a certain level of it in order to be healthy. Yeast is responsible for eating our bodies away when we die. But when we have an overgrowth in our bodies, it can literally eat us alive.

HOW IS YEAST MANAGED BIOLOGICALLY?

While the liver is responsible for yeast management and it first colonizes in the gut, yeast can overgrow in every part of our body. Yeast lives in the mucus membranes and biofilm of your body, and mucus membranes and biofilm are everywhere, not just in your ear, nose and throat. Even your bones and joints have a slippery mucus to keep them moving as well as your heart, brain and reproductive system. It is also a type of microscopic parasite that is strong, invasive and usually attaches itself to the intestinal wall.

In the yeast state (a healthy state) candida is a non-invasive, sugar fermenting organism. But when it becomes fungal or mycelial – known as Candidiasis – it can quickly overgrow and produces rhizoids that have long, stringy, finger like root structures that burrow into the intestinal wall, leaving microscopic holes and allowing toxins, undigested food particles and bacteria and yeast to enter the bloodstream. The broken down barrier also results in compromising digestion, vitamin and mineral assimilation, hormone balance, your immune system, and oxygen saturation. The ethanol that is given off by Candida parasites is the major cause of fatigue and stamina reduction and likewise destroys enzymes that are needed for providing cells with energy. Ethanol also releases free radicals that hasten the aging process.

Most people familiar with yeast overgrowth usually think that the only symptoms are thrush, jock itch or a vaginal yeast infection. But yeast overgrowth manifests itself in so many different ways that it can be hard to keep up.

1. Infant Colic, childhood rages, adult unexplained unprovoked anger

BALANCING YEAST

You will find 101 ways to balance yeast once you go looking for remedies. The five simple ways I've found to get yeast in check involve doing the following simultaneously:

1. EASILY clean up your diet, adding in PREbiotics and opening the elimination pathways

3. Take a greens supplement

4. Take an herbal blend

5. Prepare for and possibly manage die off symptoms

You can do that, right?

Step 1: Diet

My approach is suitable from infant to the elderly! Most yeast balancing diets are impractical and not doable for a toddler or child. Some are so intimidating that you may feel living with the yeast is better than the extreme diet. In a nutshell, you need a whole foods, healthy diet in order to see long term results.

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are non-digestible carbohydrates that probiotics can use to multiply their growth and fuel activity, akin to taking 2-3 times your probiotic dosage. The top 5 prebiotics are (not an exhaustive list):

1. Garlic

2. Onion

3. Whole Grains, including oatmeal

4. Banana

5. Soaked almonds.

Step 2: Probiotics

As newborns, our large intestines are colonized by beneficial bacteria, acquired from our mothers as we pass through the birth canal. They manufacture B vitamins, aid in the digestion and absorption of food, and provide a barrier on the mucosal lining of tissues, preventing abnormal bacteria and yeast from entering the system. Over time, we are all exposed to triggers that make the number of beneficial bacteria reduce and yeast cells to grow.

So, increase the number of good bacteria! When probiotics are used, they compete with yeast and other bacteria for attachment points along the digestive tract. The probiotics (‘good bacteria’) crowd out the yeast and other fungus (‘bad’ bacteria) and balance can be restored. As you can see, ingesting high quality, live probiotics daily is a must.

If an infant or toddler is balancing yeast should they also take a probiotic? Yes!

Not all probiotics are created equal! In fact, to effectively treat yeast it’s pretty important to know what your looking for. Step 4: Prepare for and Possibly Manage Die Off Symptoms
